Hyde Comments on Proposed U.S.-India
Civilian Nuclear Cooperation Agreement

(WASHINGTON) U.S. Rep. Henry J. Hyde (R-IL), chairman of the House International Relations Committee, commented Thursday on an announcement made earlier today of a proposed civilian nuclear cooperation agreement between the United States and India:

I welcome the further strengthening of U.S.-India cooperation. Implementing this agreement will require legislative approval. It is the responsibility of this Committee to thoroughly examine the specific provisions of this agreement and its potential consequences for U.S. interests and those of the international community.
